Meet Beta! She is Persian, but was born and raised in Dubai. Beta has loved makeup since the age of 14. Beta was a certified makeup artist with Sephora in 2016 and briefly worked with Dior as a freelance makeup artist. She also did makeup for the Hilton Honors Program commercial, several fashion shows, private shoots, weddings, and corporate headshots in the past 5 years. Beta is also currently writing a book on corporate glam and empowerment called Boss Glam. She specializes in enhancing natural beauty instead of masking it. Beta believes that makeup is a powerful tool that can empower and provide any woman confidence. “It can be an amazing hobby for artistic expression and with enough practice, anyone can master it. It just takes patience and an open mind. I love transforming women to look the best version of themselves so that when they look in the mirror, they believe they can do anything!”
What is your go-to hair care routine?
I have naturally curly hair and blow it out myself once a week. I love using Moroccan Oil products such as the hydrating shampoo and conditioner and treatment oil. I use the oil on washed and towel-dried hair and use a wide tooth comb to detangle my curly hair. If I want to straighten it, I use WOW hair spray and Aveda Smooth Infusion to blow it out and then once my hair is blown out I use Ouia Memory Mist as a heat protector before curling it with a curling wand. If I want to leave it curly I use Carol’s Daughter 4 in 1 hair lotion and Marc Anthony Curl Defining lotion before diffusing it with a blow dryer and a diffuser attachment.
One item you can’t leave home without?
Concealer, because I have really bad under eye dark circles and it’s nice to be able to touch up.
If you only had 10 minutes to get ready, what makeup look could you achieve and how?
If my hair is blown out and in good condition, I leave it down. Otherwise, it’s in a messy bun, especially on my curly hair days. I would use moisturizer and eye cream, a light bb cream, concealer, cream blush, and lip balm and set my tzone with a little translucent powder, add a little mascara to open up my eyes and out the door!
What is your best beauty hack?
I love using Moroccan oil treatment on the ends of my hair to keep them from drying and frizz free. My best beauty hack would be to use soap on my brows to tame them down before using either brow powder to fill in sparse hairs or a brow pomade. The waxy texture of the soap really helps keep them in place all day long! I also love to use a few pieces of individual lashes after I’ve added mascara to give the illusion of fuller and thicker lashes. I look at where I have gaps in my own lashes and just place pieces in between them. I always pour the lash glue on a surface, wait a few minutes to get it tacky, dip each lash, and place it on the lash gaps for a faster application.
What are your must-have beauty tools?
Lash curler and metal lash comb to curl and separate natural lashes after mascara. Curling wand for a beach wave look. I also use it when my hair is curly, especially after I have pulled it up and the front of the hair gets frizzy. Curling only the crown section really polishes the hair curls and saves time from curling all of the hair.
