Tips to Protect Your Skin During Colder Weather
Winter is Coming…
Fall is here and Winter will be too! As the weather cools, your skin becomes more vulnerable to dryness, inflammation, and itchiness. Don’t worry, we have some tips and tricks to keep your skin hydrated throughout both seasons.
Moisturizer and Cleansers
We all know skin becomes drier in colder conditions. Using creams over lotions for moisturizers offers a thicker layer to protect the skin in cold air. Use gentler cleansers since the skin is more likely to be irritated and inflamed in colder weather. One last thing: Exfoliate less!
Eat healthy fats + Omega-3 Fats
It’s true…skin needs fat to stay pliable, flexible, and healthy. Pizza is not considered a healthy fat, although we can dream! Foods like eggs, lean meats, nuts, avocados, chia seeds are some great sources of healthy fats!
Eat Vegetables and Fruit
So simple right? Your skin needs vitamins and minerals. Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as zinc and selenium are for your skin to stay healthy and moisturized. The sodium in vegetables and fruits will also help you retain more water and stay hydrated.
Great for your body and overall health, but also helps your skin. When you exercise and sweat, your body warms up, clears your pores, and increases circulation delivering nutrients to your skin.
Use SPF and Drink Plenty of Water
Many people think wearing SPF during the colder months isn’t a thing. Quite the contrary because UVA rays are present all year around. It is obvious why drinking plenty of water is important, but just in case, this is the best way for hydration.
Use Oils/Ingredients that Contain
Propolis- Strengthens the skin, fights inflammation, and irritation. Helps remove the active oxygen that speeds aging, improves the skin’s hydration, and elasticity.
Panthenol– Helps hydrate sensitive skin, prevents inflammation, and itchiness.
Ceramide- Prevents the loss of moisture.
Avocado Oil- Protects the skin.
Jojoba Oil- Hydrates, protects, and regenerates the skin.
